A couple small & easy things to check before reverting to an older version is: 1. ![]() After following this thread for a while now, continued problems that people are having appear to *mainly be a graphics card compatibility issue which is typically only fixed by reverting to older versions for any experiencing the issue. Can confirm it's working for Windows currently in the most recent version. It created a perfect amount of gap that was uniform between all the needles.A year or so ago it was definitely an issue with the update/version that was released but was cleared up with the update that came out a few months afterward. I had to take mine off a few times until I got smart and notched a piece of poster board to put between the needles and the face. If you let them, they will push all the way down the shaft to the face and rub it which I could see would cause issues. The only "hard" part was not putting the needles on too far when I reassembled. Once you do the first one you will realize how much force is needed and it will go smooth from then on out. I didn't' have enough of a gap to use a fork, so I used a small flat head screwdriver and my fingers to pop them off. I followed this guy's write up and it was spot on for what you have to do to get everything right. Needle removal was no easier/harder than any other cluster I've ever disassembled before from other cars. These two minor gripes aside (and they really are minor but worth mentioning), these are fantastic! And for $61 shipped they are a worthwhile upgrade that makes things not feel so dated!! They look really crisp and nice at night, and the color match between the needles and numbers are spot on (i didn't' do the sharpie mod i actually like the OEM needles) as is the light intensity.Īs far as installation is concerned, I'm not sure how people are managing to ruin their needles because it's really straight forward and easy, and unless you just go in there with no forethought and brute force, there should be no issues. However it does dim down the turn signals a bit since the LEDs aren't' as bright as the red side of the temp gauge, but it's not a show stopper, you can still see them just fine. At night it makes the red area on the temp gauge the perfect brightness and hides the LED outline. My fix was to take a white Avery label (you can get these at Walmart) cut it to size, and apply it to the back. Now again, this MAY be how the M is, and i don't' stare at my gauges when going down the road, but it makes things a hair difficult in the sun to just take a quick glance when driving.Īlso, as others have mentioned, the areas of the cluster that do not have a diffuser (the turn signals, and the red area on the temp gauge) are a little too translucent on the gauges, so you can clearly make out the LED when that area is lit. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but during the day the numbers don't stand out since the grey is so light. Now I've never been in an M (since these are supposed to be M3 style), but the grey is much lighter then it looks in their pictures. ![]() Here's a quick review (I'm at work I'll add pics later)įirst my gripes, they are really are small in comparison to all the great things about these even though it may not sound like it, but it's worth posting. So I got these and put them in yesterday and i gotta say they are really nice! Side by side they look to be as good if not better quality then the OEM ones. ![]()
